The Commissioner of Police for Sokoto State, CP Ahmed Musa, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical commanders to implement strict security measures, including stop-and-search operations, to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid celebration.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Sokoto on Friday, CP Musa emphasized the importance of proactive policing strategies, particularly through intelligence gathering, targeted raids on criminal hideouts, and increased visibility across key locations.

“To enhance security during the festive period, we have mobilized all operational assets, including patrol teams and the Anti-Riot Water Cannon, to be on high alert,” he said.

“There will be stop-and-search operations at all entry and exit points of the state as part of our comprehensive strategy to maintain law and order.”

CP Musa assured residents that the Sokoto State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, is fully committed to providing a safe environment for worshippers and residents throughout the celebrations.

He urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.

“We encourage everyone to report any suspicious activities immediately. The safety of lives and property remains our top priority,” he added.

The Commissioner also provided an emergency contact number, 08032345167, for residents to reach out in case of any security concerns.

He further stated that security personnel would be strategically deployed to crowded areas, including markets, mosques, and recreational centers, to prevent any potential threats and ensure the smooth conduct of Eid celebrations.

“Sokoto State Police Command remains committed to ensuring that the celebrations are peaceful. We call on residents to cooperate with security agencies and adhere to all safety guidelines,” CP Musa stated.
