Delta State Police Command, yesterday, detained the police team attached to Oghara Division for tear-gasping an asthmatic girl along Mosogar-Oghara Expressway in Ethiope West council of the state.
According to sources, the victim was tear-gassed inside a Toyota Sienna bus along the Expressway on Tuesday.
She fell to the ground lifeless until sympathisers came to her rescue.
Bellnews learnt that she was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, while the Police authorities ordered the arrest of all officers involved in the incident.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
He said the asthmatic girl is in the hospital receiving treatment.
MEANWHILE, Police operatives attached to an anti-kidnapping unit of Delta State Command have shot dead one Chinedu Omenogor, a suspected IPOB member and arrested four others, including retired military personnel.
Bellnews learnt that the incident occurred on May 21, at Etua Orie Ogo in Ndokwa West Local Council of the state.
According to sources, those arrested include Mr. Gift Ugwu, his wife, Jennifer, Godfrey Izah, who was shot in both legs and Sunday Mbam from Ebonyi State.
It was learnt that the deceased’s body was deposited by the Police at St Luke hospital mortuary, in Kwale, at about 5:00 p.m. the same day.
Also, unknown gunmen have killed one Alhaji Usman Mohammed and burnt his house in the early hours of Monday in Ughelli.
Although information concerning the killing was still sketchy at press time, an aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr Matthew Ujene, who confirmed the incident yesterday, condemned the killing, saying “we should stop taking people’s lives at will. ”
