Primate Theophilus Olabayo has raised an alarm over purported plans to scuttle the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu.
The founder of the Evangelical Church of Yahweh Worldwide, in an interview with reporters on Tuesday, warned against post-election violence.
Olabayo accused some “prayer contractors” of working with politicians to mislead the people and create confusion across the country.
“Some people are planning to create chaos. They do not want a transition of power to Asiwaju and that is why they are trying to form an interim government,” he said.
Assuring there will be no war, the cleric discouraged hate speeches and appealed to politicians as well as supporters to watch their utterances.
The church leader further revealed his vision about “political assassination amongst the politicians”, warning of “grave consequences” if they don’t de-escalate tension.
Olabayo advised President Muhammadu Buhari to do all that is possible to ensure a hitch-free transfer of power on May 29.
“There was a peaceful transition of power from President Goodluck Jonathan to him. He should also ensure a peaceful transition of power to the president-elect.
“The incoming government should restructure this country to some extent so that the nation will experience economic growth and social stability in the near future,” he added.
