The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has condemned the brutal attack on the president of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.
Obi, in a statement released on Thursday via social media, said that the attack was a “rude shock” to most Nigerians and that it showed the “level of lawlessness, impunity, criminality, and rascality that have engulfed our dear country.”
He added that the attack was a “worrying sign” for the future of Nigeria and that it ran counter to the type of country that Nigerians desire and deserve.
Obi called on the government to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also called on Nigerians to stand up against the “forces of darkness and evil” that are trying to destroy the country.
The attack on Ajaero occurred on Wednesday in Imo State during a union protest in Imo State.
