Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party has backed Nigerian youths seeking opportunities abroad.

Speaking during his donation of N60 million to two higher institutions in Anambra State, Obi emphasized that those who migrate abroad in search of better opportunities will one day return when Nigeria is fixed.

Obi donated N50 million to Peter University in Achina/Onneh and N10 million to the School of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu.

Addressing students at the College of Nursing Sciences, Obi said, “If it is not going to work for you here, go to where it will work for you. We will not advise anyone to stay where it is difficult for them.”

He encouraged the students to view studying abroad as a valid option if their goals are not achievable in Nigeria. He promised that the nation would improve, closing the opportunity for migration.

“When we build a greater Nigeria, you will come back,” he assured them.

Obi also shared a personal anecdote about his former personal assistant, Michael-Jude, who had migrated to the UK and is now studying alongside his wife, a nurse.

“I am now looking for a new PA,” Obi joked, underscoring his point that the opportunities abroad were valuable for those seeking growth.

Earlier at Peter University, Obi urged students to pursue academic excellence, describing education as a transformative force for national development.

“Education is the most impactful tool for societal progress,” he said, calling on students to see themselves as future leaders capable of driving change.

Through his regular donations and encouragement, Obi continues to support institutions that nurture skill, professionalism, and character, solidifying his commitment to national development.
