The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday decried the growing hardship and level of poverty in the country.
Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP in a statement said that now is the time for President Bols Tinubu to review all the policies negatively affecting the people.
According to Ologunagba, it is important for the Tinubu-led administration to as a matter of urgency reduce the cost of living by reducing electricity tariffs, the price of fuel and other charges and services affecting the Nigerian populace.
He said Tinubu has an opportunity to use the remaining two years of this first tenure to deliver quality living to Nigerians.
Also celebrating with the Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-al-Adha, Ologunagba said, the well-being of citizens should be paramount to every government.
He called on public officeholders to commit to selflessness and delivering good governance to the people whom they have been called to serve.
Ologunagba also called for prayers for Nigeria from Muslims, stating that the Eid celebration is a time for all to be mindful of the need to showcase love, and kindness and reinforce their faith in God.
“The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time, and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation,” Ologunagba said.
In a addition, the party’s spokesperson called on the present government to address the issue of insecurity and tackle corruption while ensuring the recovery of funds stolen from the public coffers.
“Such stolen funds must be recovered and channelled towards the provision of critical infrastructure, revamping the productive sector, and enhancing the operations of our security agencies,” the statement added.
