Daniel Bwala, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) known for his critical stance against President Bola Tinubu, has expressed his willingness to accept an appointment from Tinubu if it aligns with the development agenda. Bwala, a lawyer and politician, conveyed this sentiment during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program.
While acknowledging his support for Tinubu’s agenda, Bwala emphasized that he values contributing to development more than seeking a position. He clarified that his commitment to supporting leaders goes beyond appointments and rests on the belief in the value and contributions one can make, whether in an official capacity or not.
Bwala, who previously served as the spokesperson for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, faced scrutiny last week for his decision to back Tinubu after previously supporting Atiku Abubakar. His departure from the APC occurred when Tinubu chose Kashim Shettima as his running mate, a move criticized by Bwala for selecting a Muslim running mate despite both being Muslim. Bwala then supported Atiku, who chose a Christian, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.
During the interview, Bwala likened his role as the PDP presidential candidate’s spokesman to that of a salesman, promoting the party’s product and emphasizing its strengths while downplaying the competition.
He also disclosed that he informed Atiku of his meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, and Atiku responded with appreciation for the notification.
