The Oyo State Government has taken decisive action against quackery in the healthcare sector by closing down six health facilities found to be engaging in illicit practices.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, Dr. Adekunle Aremu, Chairman of the State Antiquackery Task Force Committee, announced the closure of the facilities due to various offenses, including the employment of unqualified personnel to administer medical services.
The affected health facilities include New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic & Maternity Home, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre, Safeway Clinic, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre.
Dr. Aremu emphasized that the operation conducted by the task force is part of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of residents. He warned that individuals found complicit in such malpractices would face appropriate legal action.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities observed in health facilities to the Ministry of Health or the nearest security agency. Additionally, he advised citizens to seek medical attention only from accredited and registered health facilities where qualified personnel are available.
“The objectives remain clear: the Oyo State government is unwavering in its dedication to maintaining stringent standards and prioritizing the health and safety of every resident. The government ensures that healthcare services consistently adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety, earning the trust of its citizens in safeguarding their well-being,” Dr. Aremu reiterated.
