Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has expressed his condolences to the victims of the recent fire incident at Eziukwu Road market. Governor Otti conveyed his sympathy during a firsthand assessment visit to the market to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the fire outbreak.
Assuring the affected traders, Otti pledged to remodel and upgrade the market to meet modern standards. He immediately instructed relevant government agencies to initiate plans for the modernization of the market.
During his visit, Otti observed the dilapidated state of many shops within the market, emphasizing the urgent need for renovation and reconstruction. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling similar promises made for the revitalization of Ngwa road.
Addressing the pressing safety concerns, Otti highlighted the questionable structural integrity of several shops, emphasizing the government’s responsibility to prevent any potential collapse. Consequently, he directed the Greater Aba Development Agency’s General Manager and other relevant authorities to commence the process of modernizing the market without delay.
