A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of neglecting the Northern part of Nigeria.

Kwankwaso alleged that the nation’s resources are not evenly distributed across regions as expected.

Speaking at an event in Kano State on Thursday, the former governor said the present administration, since assumption of office by Tinubu has been focused on developing the Southern region of the country.

Kwankwaso’s allegation against the present government comes barely 48 hours after he visted President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

Although details of his visit are yet to be made public, many have suggested that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) might be moving to woo Kwankwaso to its party.

Continuing at the event, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya group said, “Let me advise the Federal Government on the distribution of federal resources.”

He also alleged that the national budget is tilted towards the development of one region of the country.

According to him, the APC-led government has been lopsided in the allocation of scarce resources between the two regions of the country.

Also decrying the level of insecurity in the North, Kwankwaso said the government has abandoned the region.

“Yesterday, I was to come by air, but unfortunately, my airline decided to shift our takeoff from 3pm to 8pm. I had to come by road. From Abuja to Kaduna to Kano was a hell. Terrible. Very bad road. This is a road started many years ago, right from the beginning of the leadership of the APC.

“Now, we are told that there is a road from the South to the East. We support infrastructure anywhere in this country…and any other thing that is good for the masses but a situation where government is taking our resources and dumping it in one part of the country and other parts of the country are left just like that, I don’t believe that is the right thing to do by the government itself,” he said.

The former governor further called on Tinubu and the APC to put in efforts and ensure that all regions of the country feel their leadership presence.
