The reinstated emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11, has returned to the Kano Emir’s Palace in the wee hours of Saturday morning to thwart the Nigerian government’s plan to smuggle the deposed emir, Aminu Bayero, into the palace unnoticed.
This is just as soldiers and heavy security personnel were sighted at the Kano Emir’s Palace in an alleged plot to give cover to the deposed emir, Aminu Bayero, as he is set to return to the palace on Saturday morning.
Sources at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport told newsmen that the dethroned monarch’s plane had landed.
BELLNEWS earlier reported that the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, directed the Nigeria Police Force to arrest the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
The directive was given in a statement, which Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson issued on his behalf.
The governor accused Ado Bayero of creating tension in the state and attempting to forcefully return to the palace after his dethronment.
The statement reads: “The former Emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace two days after being deposed by the Governor.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed Emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the relative peace the state enjoys.”
