Nigerian Police Arrest 13 Suspects For Brutal Murder Of Naval Officer In Kaduna

The naval officer, who was a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was attacked and stabbed in the chest at about 5:20am on Sunday.

At least 13 suspects have been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command in connection with the murder of a naval officer in the Kawo area of Kaduna State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests.

He said the suspects were picked up during a raid carried out by operatives shortly after the killing of Lt. Commodore M. Buba.

The naval officer, who was a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was attacked and stabbed in the chest at about 5:20am on Sunday.

He had a flat tyre and was attempting to fix it near the Kawo flyover when an unknown assailant approached and demanded his mobile phone.

“When the officer refused, questioning the rationale, the assailant suddenly stabbed him on the chest with a local knife,” DSP Hassan said.

The attacker was immediately overpowered by residents at the scene and lynched. The wounded officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital but he was confirmed dead on arrival. His body was later moved to the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

“In response to the incident, operatives carried a raid in the Kawo area and arrested 13 suspects,” DSP Hassan stated.

The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of the suspects in the killing.

It was earlier reported how tragedy struck in Kaduna over the weekend as a Naval officer was brutally stabbed to death by a phone thief while attempting to fix a flat tyre near the pedestrian bridge in Kawo, Kaduna North Local Government Area.

It was gathered that the victim was undergoing a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State.
