Nigerian Naval Seaman Guns Down Colleague During Argument In Zamfara

A source told Bellnews that the two personnel who were both serving at Team 3, former Operation Hadarin Daji now newly named Operation Sheto Yanma, were having argument after which LS Akila shot his colleague.

A Nigerian Naval leading seaman (LS), simply identified as Akila has gunned down his colleague (name withheld) during an argument in Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

Bellnews gathered that the incident happened on Friday at about 6am.

A source told Bellnews that the two personnel who were both serving at Team 3, former Operation Hadarin Daji now newly named Operation Sheto Yanma, were having argument after which LS Akila shot his colleague.

“This morning at about 6am two Naval personnel having arguments and the other navy firing the other one at Team 3 former Operation Hadarin Daji now newly name Operation Sheto Yanma Dansadau community.

“The name of the Navy man who fired his colleague is LS Akila.

“As I’m talking to you now, LS Solomon is still with the military,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the incident to Bellnews.

He said, “On 25 October 24, at about 0312hrs, a naval personnel, LS Akila A, deployed at FOB Dansadua for Operation Fansan Yamma, in questionable circumstances opened fire sporadically killing a fellow military colleague.

“Thereafter, he was arrested, disarmed, detained and investigation has since commenced into the case. After investigation, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial setup to address such misdemeanor among troops.

“Meanwhile, the administrative procedure for notifying the family of the deceased is ongoing. It is for this reason his name is not yet released to the public. Nevertheless, the name will be released in due course.”

“Accordingly, we urge the media to exercise caution in reporting in order not to further demoralise the family of the deceased, please.”
