The Mandilas Group has officially disassociated itself from the ownership of the Mandilas building in Lagos, which was engulfed in a devastating fire on January 21, resulting in substantial losses for over 6,700 traders and extensive damage to the prominent structure on Broad Street in the Lagos Island Local Government Area.
Contrary to prevailing beliefs, Mandilas Group Limited has clarified that it does not own the Mandilas Building on Broad Street. The official transfer of ownership for the building occurred in 2020, shifting to a new entity unrelated to Mandilas Group. The group ceased all associations with the property following this ownership transfer, and the recent fire incident has no connection or involvement with the Mandilas Group in any capacity.
In a statement, the Mandilas Group emphasized, “We understand the concerns and interest from the public and assure that relevant authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire. Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing investigation.”
