Asocial media user identified as @Bhadmoz has called out the Lagos State Government on X (formerly Twitter) over alleged irregular payment practices involving the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA).
The user revealed that LASAA had been using a suspicious account to collect payments from customers, claiming that after making a payment of ₦45,000, customers received a receipt showing only ₦7,100.
He wrote: “@jidesanwoolu @followlasg why is LASAA using this attached account to issue payment to customers? They’ll issue a payment of 45K and after payment you get a receipt of 7,100. @tokunbo_wahab @ARISEtv … we must call out criminal acts.”
He tagged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Government, and the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, describing the act as criminal and demanding accountability.
Responding to the allegations, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that the staff member involved had been identified and is indeed on the agency’s payroll.
In a statement shared on X, Wahab said: “My attention has been drawn to a post alleging improper transaction practices involving a staff member of an agency under our ministry. I can confirm that the individual in question has been identified and is indeed on the staff list of the agency. I have directed that the officer report to the Head Office tomorrow for immediate disciplinary proceedings.”
Wahab also issued a stern warning to public servants, stressing the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and unethical conduct.
“Let this be a clear warning to any public servant engaging in unethical practices: we have zero tolerance for misconduct. The Lagos State Government remains committed to transparency and accountability at all levels.”
The commissioner commended the citizen who raised the alarm, saying, “We thank the vigilant citizen who brought this to our attention. Your voice matters in our collective pursuit of good governance.”
