The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic restrictions across major parts of the state as it prepares for project inaugurations linked to the visit of Bola Tinubu.

In a travel notice released by the Ministry of Transportation, residents were informed that some roads will be partly closed on April 8 and 9, 2026.

Bellnews reports that the government explained that the measure is to allow smooth movement and maintain safety during the events.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the affected areas include Ikeja, Ojota, Ajegunle and Victoria Island, where key projects will be unveiled.

On Wednesday, April 8, traffic around Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja and Ojota will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. due to the inauguration of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge.

Motorists passing through these routes during this period are expected to use other roads to avoid delays.

Activities will continue on Thursday, April 9, with two separate events. The first will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle. Movement around Olodi Apapa and nearby areas is expected to be slow during this time, and drivers are advised to plan ahead.

Later in the day, another event will be held at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Traffic is expected to build up in that area due to security arrangements and crowd movement, and road users are encouraged to avoid the route if possible or prepare for delays.

The government also stated that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be on ground to direct traffic and assist commuters along the affected routes.

Residents were urged to follow instructions from traffic officers and cooperate throughout the period. The government added that the road closures are temporary and necessary for the smooth running of the events.
