KWAM 1 Supporters Turned Back As Selection Process For Next Awujale Begins

A group believed to be supporters of popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, were turned back at the gate on Monday when the Fusengbuwa ruling House commenced its nomination process to select the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Security personnel had difficulty managing individuals who lacked entry clearance or could not justify their presence, and the group was said to be without clearance.

Bellnews reports that there was heavy security at the Bisirodipe Hall in GRA, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, venue of the exercise.

Dozens of operatives drawn from the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were stationed within and around the venue ahead of the exercise.

The hall premises were crowded with members of the ruling house, including the head, Otunba Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi, delegates, observers, and residents keen to follow the proceedings.

Meanwhile, as earlier reported by Naija News, a total of 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ogun State have indicated interest in emerging as the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

This figure was revealed on Monday by the Olori Ebi of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, who is also Otunba Jadiara, Lateef Owoyemi.

According to him, the names of those who scaled the first hurdle would be forwarded to the Afobajes while, the Afobajes would pick one of the candidates as the next Awujale and forward his name to the Ogun State Government.

Owoyemi added that those in disagreement with the exercise can channel their grievances to the government.
