The Nzuko Ora Nnewi which is the parent body governing Nnewi Town in Nnewi North have today 1st February, 2026 passed a vote of no confidence on the President General (Prince Jude Osumuo) and BoT Chairman Chief Dennis Offordeme over their attempt to unlawfully extend the tenure of the Local Government Mayor of Nnewi North Hon Echezona Anazodo.
Recall that since last year November Nzuko Ora Nnewi has not held meetings as the President General continue to arbitrarily postpone the meeting to do the bidding of his employer ; the Local Government Chairman. The community is protesting that the President General who doubles as the Chief of Staff to the Local Government Chairman is using his office to twart the 1997 agreement of Nzuko Ora Nnewi which provides for each quarter to serve only a single tenure for the House Of Assembly and Local Government Chairman.
Since 1997, its gathered that Uruagu Nnewi Community served a single tenure of one year seven months; while Otolo Nnewi served a single tenure of three years and going by the law Umudim is to serve a single tenure of two years and handover to Nnewichi.
While Igwe Nnewi; HRH has directed that Hon Echezona Anazodo hands over to Nnewichi after his two years as Mayor as provided by the law, the Mayor has refused as he is enjoying the protection and services of the President General who is his Chief of Staff and the BoT Chairman who is from his Umudim quarter
Having postponed the meeting today, the delegates went to the venue and impeached the PG Nzuko Ora Nnewi and the BoT Chairman to restore law and order in Nnewi
