Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has thrown his weight behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election scheduled for Saturday.

El-Rufai was spotted on the campaign trail for the party’s candidate, Alexander Igoji Adanu, in Kujama, Chikun Local Government Area.

In a post on his social media handle, the former governor expressed gratitude for the reception, writing: “KADUNA UPDATE: Earlier today at Kujama, Chikun Local Government. Alhamdulillah. Overwhelmed by the warmth and acceptance of the ADC!!”

Adanu will face competition from All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Felix Bagudu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer Esther Ashivelli Dawaki, and other contenders.

El-Rufai’s support for the candidate of the opposition party follows that of former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who was recently seen wearing an ADC-branded cap while campaigning for the party’s candidate in the Onitsha North State Constituency by-election, Justina Azuka.

Both Obi and El-Rufai are figures in the opposition coalition rallying under the ADC party.
