The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the records on its website and recognized the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which emerged from the party’s National Convention on Sunday.

A check on the INEC website on Monday revealed that Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu were listed as the PDP National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.

The electoral umpire also listed Ahmed Yayari Mohammed as National Treasurer, Daniel Woyengikuro as National Financial Secretary and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN) as National Legal Adviser.

Bellnews recalls that Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu emerged as the substantive National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The duo emerged during the party’s elective National Convention held at the velodrome of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Sunday.

Bellnews reports that Mohammed, Anyanwu and other NWC members secured their positions by consensus.

In other news, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has made a bold claim on the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that “It will not be under our watch that the PDP will die through non-participation in the general election.”

Bellnews reports that Saraki made the declaration in a post via his Facebook account on Monday, noting that those were his words on Sunday at the PDP National Convention, and following the successful conduct of the convention in Abuja.

He noted that with the successful conclusion of the convention, those words have been matched with action.

Going forward from the conclusion, the former Governor of Kwara State submitted that the PDP must now focus on its reconciliation process.

He gave assurance that the PDP has positioned itself as a credible platform to contest the 2027 election and provide Nigerians with a credible alternative.
