It’s no longer news that there is an ongoing talk for a proposed merger between Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party ahead of the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.
However, the major issue which is yet to be resolved is who will become the presidential candidate should the two parties form an alliance.
Speaking with journalists in Gombe state on Saturday, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party explained what will happen if Peter Obi refuse to be his running mate.
According to a report released by Premium Times, Rabiu Kwankwaso however noted if Peter Obi agrees to be his running mate, it will provide the South East with an opportunity to actualize it’s presidential ambition in the nearest future.
Additionally, he said the best option for the South East is for them through Peter Obi to partner with the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
According to him, if the region miss the golden opportunity they’re offering, it would be a disaster.
No doubt, with the way things are going, Peter Obi may have to look elsewhere for a running mate.
It’s clear that Rabiu Kwankwaso has no intentions whatsoever to collapse his structure and join Peter Obi on the same ticket as a running mate for the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.
