The former Commissioner For Women Affairs Anambra State Government and Board Member Heavenly Elderly Charity Arena Foundation( HECHARENA) Hon.(Mrs.) Bridget Obi has shed more light on the activities of the Foundation. In a brief interview with Pressmen shortly after the 90th Birthday Ceremony of Chief Dr Simon Okeke, at Amichi, Nnewi South LGA, the vibrant and amiable Honourable described HECHARENA Foundation as :”” A Foundation that cares for the Elderlies. In this clime, it is like when you are old, you are left for only your family to care for. Some of these Elderlies probably lost the pillars of support that could have taken good care of them at old age and now they are left helpless.

Then, there are those who have children and these children are willing to keep them in a Home where they can be properly taken care of. What we do now is to take in some of these Elderlies and take good and proper care of them.

We are also developing Major Old People’s Homes starting from our Community in Okija. We advice that every Community should have a place where their Elderlies are kept and properly taken care of. They may not necessarily live there, but every Elderly should be able to go to a place for lunch at least two or three times a week and find where he or she can go for recreational activities with their age mates.

You know it’s very difficult to get Caregivers and when you get one, they hardly take care of them. So this Elderly People’s Home is very timely.”” It would be recalled that HECHARENA Foundation, which is founded by Her Excellency Amb Chief Lady Vera Ifenyinwa Ikokwu JP is about to embark on a gigantic #500 Million Ultra-Modern OLD PEOPLES HOME And VOCATIONAL/ SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRE in Okija Ihiala LGA of Anambra State. Meanwhile, HECHARENA Foundation has honoured Chief Dr Simon Okeke OON OFR with her LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in recognition of his Excellent Services To God And Humanity Especially To the Widows, The Elderlies And Vulnerables Members Of The Society.

The Award was presented to The Celebrant by Hon. Mrs Bridget Obi on behalf of Amb. Chief Lady Vera Ifenyinwa Ikokwu JP.
