Protesters in Benin, Edo State, mainly youths, on Monday protested against persistent scarcity of fuel in the state and across Nigeria, and the unbearable hike in the price of the product by some independent marketers.
Bellnewsonline.com reports that the demonstrators described the scarcity as artificial, and the hardship Nigerians are facing as unbearable, calling on authorities to solve the challenge.
Apart from the lingering fuel scarcity, the protesters also complained about the Naira scarcity.
They made bonfires on major highways in Benin city.
Furthermore, they challenged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to rise up and live up to their expectations and put leaders on their toes.
Bellnewsonline.com learned that security operatives are converging to contain the situation before it snowballs into violent protests.
