Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has said that the hardened stance on Nigeria is gradually softening.
Sani said this in a statement posted on his verified X handle.
His remark is coming following the invitation of the Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu by President Donald Trump of the United States to the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill.
Speaking at the event, Trump acknowledged Mrs Tinubu as a very respected woman.
“We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at one of the largest churches. A very respected woman,” Trump had said.
Reacting, the former lawmaker wrote: “The First Lady has gotten public recognition and respect from President Trump.
“A hardened stance on the country is now softening, courtesy of adept diplomatic engagement. We hope for the best.”
