In a dramatic turn of events, a group of armed criminals found themselves careening into a ditch as they attempted to flee from a pursuit by the Anambra State Police Command and local vigilante forces.
The incident unfolded in Awka-Etiti, situated in the Idemili South Local Government Area of the state. Joint security forces, conducting a routine patrol, confronted the heavily-armed gang whose intentions remained undisclosed at the time.
A spokesperson for the State’s Police Command recounted the events, stating that the coordinated pursuit led to the culprits losing control of their vehicle and crashing into a ditch. Following an exchange of gunfire, law enforcement successfully apprehended two members of the gang. Furthermore, the authorities seized four AK-47 rifles along with 219 rounds of ammunition. Among the recovered items was a Toyota Highlander SUV bearing registration number Lagos GGE 408 GZ.
In a separate operation, another joint security team comprising police and local vigilante units intercepted a Toyota Venza car with registration number Lagos EKY 746 JB in Neni, located within the Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
