Governor Alex Otti of Abia State conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work on Port Harcourt Road on Saturday, expressing satisfaction with the notable progress achieved on the project. Speaking to residents after the inspection in Aba, Governor Otti urged them to collaborate with the contractors, emphasizing that fostering a positive relationship with the construction team would contribute to the swift completion of the project.
During his address, Governor Otti acknowledged the residents’ hospitality toward the contractors, commending their efforts in providing water, drinks, and meals to the construction team. He stressed the importance of such cooperation, stating that mutual collaboration between the community and the government facilitates efficient project completion.
Governor Otti also encouraged residents to adopt good sanitary practices and refrain from indiscriminate waste disposal. He urged them to distance themselves from any activities that might undermine the government’s initiatives to revitalize Abia.
Addressing the issue of littering, Governor Otti announced plans to provide bins for households and emphasized that the government would implement a regular waste collection schedule. He urged residents to comply with these measures as the completion of the roads would not tolerate littering.
The governor assured the community that Ndoki Road would be completed before the year’s end, promising significant improvements before the onset of the rainy season. Additionally, he revealed plans to link Ndoki Road to Good Morning Market, the Old Court, and neighboring streets.
Governor Otti disclosed that Ndoki Road, along with various other roads in Aba, is being handled directly by the Abia State Ministry of Works. He called upon potential investors to consider Aba as an investment destination, highlighting its potential for contributing to the state’s economic development.
Governor Otti shared future plans for Omuma Road, revealing that it would be dualized and connected to Old Express, Cemetery, and Osusu roads. He emphasized the commitment to sustaining progress on these projects and inspected Ngwa Road during the course of the day.
