The Transition Committee set up by the incoming Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf has claimed that the state government properties were being sold by the outgoing Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to his family members and cronies.

This was stated by Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, chairman of the committee, who led the Recovery of Public Assets Subcommittee, during a visit the Kano State Public Procurement Bureau (Due Process Office) on Wednesday.

The committee’s chairman claimed that the committee had received solid information that the Due Process Office had been sold to Abba Ganduje, the governor’s son.

“The office which was until this afternoon being actively utilized by staff of the office was sold to the son of the exiting governor of the state and we are deeply worried by the manner at which the outgoing governor is mortgaging the common franchise of the good people of Kano state leaves much to be desired,” he said.

He said the act of the government was akin “to vandalism; they are uprooting every structure of governance.”

Bichi said that the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) had genuine evidence that the property had been “sold for less than N10 million.”

He described the government’s actions as “a drama,” with the actual game beginning on May 29. This is the final chapter of the drama, and we will collect and return to the people whatever was stolen, misused, or vandalised by the outgoing government.”
