Late night fire on Saturday, gutted the 13 Police Mobile Force, PMF, Squadron office and armoury in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
Sources said the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
A viral video of the inferno on social media indicates the Mopol 13 facilities engulfed in flames, with the offices and armoury completely burnt to ashes.
The cause of the incident could not be ascertained at the time of filling this report.
In the video, a distressed voice is heard narrating the extent of the damage.
“This is Mopol 13 that burned this morning, early this morning. This is the armoury; everything burned. Oh boy! Mopol 13 armoury got burned this morning,” the voice said.
The person further claimed that the Squadron Commander’s office was also affected by the inferno.
“Even the Squadron Commander’s office. Everything got burned. Wonderful, wonderful shall never end.”
Efforts to confirm the incident from the Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP, Udeme Edet was not successful as calls to her mobile telephone were not returned.
