About five shops were on Wednesday February 18, 2025 razed in an early morning fire outbreak at the electronics parts market in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Property worth millions of naira were reportedly destroyed in the inferno which started at about 9:00 affected the shops located in a storey-building housing electronics and electrical appliances.
Confirming the incident, State Fire Chief, Mr Chukwudi Chiketa explained that he deployed his men and equipment to the scene immediately to contain the situation.
“The affected building is a one storey building. The inferno affected about five shops upstairs, which contain electronics and parts.
“The good part of it is that the fire has been controlled and there was no loss of life. Lots of shops upstairs and downstairs were saved,” he said.

While noting that the cause of the fire incident was yet to be ascertained, the Fire Chief urged residents to be fire conscious.
He also advised traders on the need for every store owners to acquire fire extinguisher to serve as a preventive measure against future occurrence.
