The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologised to passengers and stakeholders over a power outage that occurred at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos over the weekend.
FAAN, which manages the airport, disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, attributing the disruption to a fault in the terminal’s changeover circuit.
The authority explained that the outage occurred during a power changeover process, prompting the immediate deployment of its technical teams to address the situation.
According to FAAN, electricity supply was swiftly transferred to the secondary grid, while interim backup measures were activated to ensure the rapid restoration of services.
“We acknowledge the power outage at MMIA Terminal 1 yesterday. The interruption was caused by an issue with the changeover circuit.
“We apologise to all passengers and stakeholders affected by the disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused,” the statement read.
