Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madumere served as deputy governor to former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, following the removal of Chief Jude Agbaso, and also held the position throughout Okorocha’s second term which ended on May 29, 2019.
The former deputy governor announced his decision in a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ezinihitte Ward, Mbieri, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The resignation letter, dated March 17, 2026, was acknowledged on the same day by Hon. Ugochukwu Udeh.
In the letter, Madumere explained that his decision followed careful personal reflection on his political journey within the APC.
“I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective immediately,” he stated.
“The decision, though difficult, has become necessary after a deep personal reflection on my political journey with the party. I sincerely feel it is time for me to explore new paths.”
Madumere expressed appreciation for the relationships he built during his time in the party and hoped to maintain those ties despite his exit.
“It is my utmost desire and expectation that we all continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built together over the years, in our collective desire to build a better Nigeria,” the letter read.
“Thank you for your understanding. Please accept my best wishes always.”
The former deputy governor has yet to disclose his next political move following his resignation from the APC.
