The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals allegedly involved in the abduction of pupils from the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure Local Government Area. Among their victims was also the All Progressives Congress Chairman, Hon Paul Omotosho.
According to Sunday Abutu, the State Police Command spokesperson, the suspects were paraded, shedding light on the incident.
Commissioner of Police Adeniran Akinwale, speaking at a Press Briefing in Ado-Ekiti, disclosed that one suspect was killed during a confrontation with law enforcement officers.
Akinwale reiterated the commitment of the command to eradicating criminal activities in the state to ensure peace and order.
Recall that Hon Paul Omotosho was kidnapped in 2023 but was subsequently released following the intervention of security agencies and the state government.
The abducted pupils and a staff member of the Apostolic Faith School in Ekiti have been rescued. The children were liberated in the early hours of Sunday, February 4. The victims, including the pupils, a driver, and a teacher, were taken on Monday, January 29, from their school bus while en route to Emure-Ekiti, with the assailants intercepting them at Eporo-Ekiti.
