Mr Afeez Bolaji Repete, a former Special Adviser on Youth and Sports to the immediate past governor of Oyo State, late Abiola Ajimobi has declared that his former principal did not extend the length of Ibadan circular road.

Repete advised the current government led by Engineer Seyi Makinde not to lie against the dead person.

The APC chieftain made these declarations during an exclusive interview with Bellnews on Tuesday.

Our correspondent reports that the extension of length of Ibadan circular road has been a source of concern for residents in six local government areas of Ibadan.

Bellnews gathered that the idea of Ibadan circular road was conceived by the current Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja when he was the governor in 2005.

It was learnt that Ladoja marked 150 metres for the construction of the road.

Late Adebayo Alao-Akala who succeeded Ladoja did not execute the project but Ajimobi awarded the construction of the road before he left office in 2019.

The current government claimed that Ajimobi extended the length of the road and that Makinde is acting on what he met on ground when he took over from Ajimobi.

But, Repete said that his former principal did not extend the length of the road.

The APC chieftain noted that Ajimobi attempted to add an additional 350 metres but he stopped it when the people protested against it in 2016.

He said, “Ajimobi initially increased the length but he reversed to what he met on ground when the people protested in 2016. So, when Makinde came on board, he met 150 metres. That is the position.

“Ajimobi met 150 metres and he added 350, but when people protested, he returned back to the original 150 metres. That was in 2016.

“It was Ajimobi that awarded the contract before Seyi Makinde revoked it. Ajimobi started it”.
