In a move to de-escalate the lingering political tension in Rivers State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a late-night consultative meeting with key gladiators at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which took place behind closed doors, featured the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The high-level intervention by the President comes as a response to the deepening friction between the Governor and his predecessor, which has threatened to destabilize the political landscape of the oil-rich state.
Several prominent leaders from Rivers State were also in attendance to witness the peace talks, signaling a collective effort to find a lasting solution to the impasse.
Nation reports that Governor Fubara later accompanied Wike to his private residence in Guzape, Abuja, shortly after the meeting with the president.
