[BREAKING] Osun 2026: APC Governorship Candidate Emerges

Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been affirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun 2026 governorship election.

Bellnews gathered that Oyebamiji’s affirmation was arrived at the end of the governorship primary held on Saturday in Osogbo.

Oyebamiji emerged after he was affirmed by the 1,660 delegates, having been nominated by one of the aspirants, Mr Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and seconded by another aspirant, Senator Babajide Omoworare.

Announcing the affirmation, a former governorship aspirant in the party, Kunle Adegoke said his affirmation follows the decision of the APC national working committee.

Adegoke also said that the other aspirants stepped down for Oyebamiji.

He said, “I Kunle Adegoke with the consent of all other aspirants move the motion that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji be adopted as the consensus candidate to contest in the 2026 governorship candidate. I so move.”

Thereafter, the Chairman of the primary election committee, Governor Monday Okpebholo, asked for a voice vote, and all the delegates affirmed his candidacy.

“By the power conferred on me as Chairman of the primary committee, I hereby declare Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, as the candidate of our party,” he added.
