The All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as Chairman of its National Convention Central Coordination Committee.

He has been replaced by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

The change comes ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.

The development was announced in an official statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, on Friday.

According to the statement, the party leadership reviewed the structure of the committee after further consultations with national stakeholders.

“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2020 National Convention has been reconstituted.

“Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”

Uzodimma, who was initially appointed to lead the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as Treasurer of the convention body following the reorganisation.

The APC also expanded the size of the committee from 73 members to 90 members.

New names were added to strengthen the planning process and widen political representation across the party.

Among those newly included is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside other senior party figures.

Under the new arrangement, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was appointed Vice Chairman I.

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, remains Secretary of the committee.

Party insiders say the reshuffle is part of efforts to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated national convention, which will produce new members of the APC’s National Working Committee.

The convention is expected to shape the party’s internal leadership structure ahead of future electoral contests.

Recall that only days ago, Politics Nigeria reported the APC had unveiled Uzodinma as chairman of the 73-member committee, signalling the formal start of preparations for the convention.
