In a solemn announcement, the Tiv Traditional Council revealed the passing of King Shuluwa, a revered first-class traditional ruler who presided over Ukum, Logo, and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas, encompassing Sankera in Benue State. King Shuluwa, also known as Tor Sankera, departed this life at the age of 79 on Tuesday at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, according to a statement issued by Mr. Shinyi Tyozua, the Secretary of the Tiv Area Traditional Council, based in Makurdi.

Born in 1946, Abu King Shuluwa served as the Tor Sankera and Chairman of the Sankera Intermediate Area Traditional Council. He was a distinguished member of both the Tiv Area Traditional Council and the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers. The late Tor, a seasoned public servant, had previously held the position of commissioner in Benue State on three separate occasions, alongside various other appointments.

The Tiv Traditional Council announced that the funeral rites for the departed monarch would be held on February 10 in Katsina-Ala, with specific details of the burial program to be released in due course. The statement extended an invitation to members of the Tiv Area Traditional Council and the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers to attend the burial and pay their last respects to the esteemed traditional leader.

King Shuluwa, despite an unsuccessful bid for the governorship position of Benue State in four separate attempts, remained a prominent figure known for his dedication to public service and traditional leadership. The announcement marked a somber moment for the people of Benue, mourning the loss of a respected monarch who had contributed significantly to the development of the region.
