A Frontline Senatorial Aspirant for the upcoming Anambra South Senatorial Bye-Election under the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barr Peter Ekwueme, haa congratulated Hon. Mark Okoye on his confirmation as the Managing Director, South East Development Commission (SEDC).
In a statement released to the Press, Barr. Ekwueme described Hon. Okoye’s appointment as one that excites young men and women in the youth bracket, acknowledging it as an opportunity for the youth to once again show their capacity to contribute gainfully to the socio-economic development of the country.
Barr.Ekwueme used the opportunity to appeal for more youth inclusion in governance, stating that young people of today are informed, highly resourceful and ready to make their mark in governance if given the opportunity.
While describing the SEDC as a Body that is created to accelerate the socio-economic development of the South East region, Ekwueme noted that the Organization will lay the foundation for the region’s Infrastructural and Human Development. He therefore urged the newly appointed MD to be transparent and accountable during his tenure in office and offer a leadership that puts the people of the South East first.
Ekwueme further urged Hon.Okoye to prioritize the overdue issue of insecurity and youth development in the South East Zone. He called on all Stakeholders and Captains of industry in the region to support the new MD to deliver on the tasks ahead.
Barr Ekwueme, 42, is a Debt Recovery Attorney and Real Estate Developer whose passion and dedication for transparent and accountable governance have led to his interest in representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate. Given his pedigree as the son of The former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme, there is a preponderance of opinion that his chances are very bright for the Senatorial race.
