Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concerns over the recent attack on Yargoje village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack resulted in the tragic loss of many lives and the kidnapping of vulnerable women and children.
Atiku also commented on the unfortunate ambush of a police armoured personnel carrier by bandits at Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo villages, which led to the deaths of four police officers and two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.
“Most worrisome to me is that these acts of banditry and terrorism have become routine, with the government seemingly helpless and nonchalant about it despite the enormous annual budget for defence,” Atiku stated
While expressing his condolences to the families of the victims, Atiku reiterated his call for the government to fulfil its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of its citizens.
