The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) present strike will soon conclude, as the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged.
The state’s minister of education, Goodluck Opiah, reiterated the commitment of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to ending the ASUU strike.
The commitment was made by Opiah over the weekend while addressing reporters in Owerri, Imo State.
“I can assure you that the government is paying close attention to the matter.
Even as I speak to you, there are many meetings, discussions, and reflections going on with the aim of finding a solution as soon as possible.
“I am hoping that the government and ASUU’s dispute will be addressed soon so that our kids may start school again.”
ASUU has been on strike since February 2022 because of a disagreement with the federal government about the compensation schedule for university lecturers.
