As the February 25th Presidential polls draws closer, several people from Nnewi have continued to endorse the Presidential ambition of the former Governor of Anambra State,Mr. Peter Obi. The latest endorsements are coming from two prominent Personalities from Nnewi.
The first is the highly respected and respectable Hon. Barr. Love Chinyere Okafoagu a Candidate for the Federal House of Representatives for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the last election and an Abuja Based Legal Luminary.
The second is the President- General of Otolo Nnewi Development Union, Chief Amobi Adukwulu(Ikemba Otolo). Speaking to bellnews online.com over the weekend at the wedding ceremony of her younger brother,Mr. Chukwuemeka Okafoagu,Hon. Love Okafoagu advised Nigerians to vote their conscience and vote right. In her words ” Except if you are a Visitor, that is when you will be needing advice for someone to tell you what to do. If you are not a Visitor and you have been living in this country, you should vote right. You should know the right thing to do. Vote right and vote your conscience.Vote for someone that can, at least, stand to represent you. Someone that you can at least, relate and communicate with. Vote right.” Asked if she is “Obidient” , she replied: ” Yes I’m “Obidient” I’m not saying that you should be. I’m ” Obidient” for my own personal reasons. You should know who you want to vote for. I am voting Peter Obi because I want someone that can represent me. It is high time the youths of this country took over. I don’t care how it happens or what you think. I’m not saying that the Elderly should not be our Leaders. It should get to a level or point where they should act as Counsellors and Advisers and allow us to push forward.” Speaking in the same vein, the President General of Otolo Nnewi Development Union,Chief Amobi Adukwulu ( Ikemba Otolo) has this to tell Nigerians concerning the forthcoming elections:.
“The message is clear. If the situation we are in , in this country now is okay by anybody let them vote according to the situation of the country, because, before you can vote, you must be up to 18 years and above,he must have been an adult. So my advice is that we vote wisely. Don’t be induced by money. Vote your conscience. And I believe that every conscience is presently bitter with the situation of the country. If you want things to continue like this, the ball is in your court, but if you don’t want, it is up to you, but for me, I am “Obidient.” Ikemba Otolo spoke to some Reporters privately, during the funeral ceremony of Mrs. Monica Chinyere Okonkwo the mother of Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo and Mrs Ogochukwu Obiefuna among other children. Condoling with the family, he wished her soul a peaceful rest in the Lord’s bosom and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
