The Benue state government has declared Friday, October 4, as a work-free day to enable residents to exercise their civic rights at the Saturday, October 5, Local Government elections in the state.
This declaration was made by the governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, on Thursday, October 3.
Alia in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula said the public holiday, would give the electorate the chance to travel to their respective local government areas ahead of the elections.
This will present an opportunity for the electorates to exercise their franchise.
He also emphasised the need for the electorates to participate in the LG polls by taking advantage of the work-free day.
Also urging the citizens to ensure a peaceful election process by adhering to security protocols at the polls.
