A tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening as approximately 15 hoodlums reportedly stormed the residence of a prominent community leader in Anambra, resulting in his untimely demise and instilling fear within the locality.
Although the precise details surrounding the attack remain shrouded in uncertainty, initial reports suggest that masked assailants fatally shot the deceased, who had recently been elected as the community’s president general and had overseen a recent community election.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, affirmed that law enforcement authorities had been alerted to the situation and promptly dispatched officers to the area.
Ikenga stated, “The police are aware of the development. We received the information and swiftly deployed our personnel to the scene. Upon arrival, our officers discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood.”
He continued, “The deceased’s body has been recovered and transferred to the morgue with the assistance of family members. We are collaborating with eyewitnesses and community members to apprehend the perpetrators, and the investigation is currently underway.”
