Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has reacted to the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu at the presidential poll and hailed the Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike over the victory.
Bellnewsonline.com earlier reported that in the results collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Tinubu won with a total of 231, 593 to beat his closest rival, Peter Obi of the Labour Party in Rivers State.
The former governor of Anambra State was in a slight lead until Wike’s Obio-Akpor local government results of 80,239 votes were announced, giving Tinubu a drastic lift which led to his victory.
Peter Obi scored 3829 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar polled 368 votes.
Reacting, Asari Dokubo while celebrating Tinubu’s victory with his band, praised Wike for doing a good job in Rivers State.
According to him, he is not friends with Wike but has made a U-turn to become friends with the governor due to his efforts in the just concluded election.
The ex-militant leader also took a swipe at the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, for failing to deliver votes for the APC.
Wike Allegedly Intimidate Voters
Meanwhile, the government of Rivers State has urged the populace to disregard false, deceptive audio and visual content that is circulating online which seeks to harm Governor Nyesom Wike’s reputation.
Bellnewsonline.com recalls that there have been speculations indicting Rivers state governor of moving around with soldiers to intimidate voters during Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.
In reaction to the videos, audio, and images that purportedly supported the speculations, the Commissioner of Information and Communications, Chris Finebone described the speculations as a campaign of calumny launched against the Governor using doctored video and audio clips.
