Algeria’s head coach, Vladimir Petković has suggested why his team was defeated 2-0 against Nigeria in Saturday’s AFCON quarter-final tie.
Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams scored in the second half, sealing the win for the Super Eagles against the Desert Foxes.
In his post-match interview, Petković acknowledged Nigeria’s dominance, noting that they thwarted Algeria’s attempts to control the game.
“Nigeria was better than us. We wanted to control the game, but the opponent was strong and prevented us from doing so,” Petković said.
“The Nigerian players demonstrated their individual abilities, and we were lacking physically.
“We tried to come back in the second half, but we could not reach the level we wanted in our attack.”
