Bulldoze statement: During the flagging off of the construction of the Obodhi-Ozochi road in Rivers State, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, informed all the traditional rulers in Rivers state to talk to their gods to wake up, if not he will go and bulldoze where they kept them in the state.
The Rivers governor made this statement while expressing his displeasure with the whole development in the community after paying for the project that was neither carried out nor monitored by the traditional rulers.
However, Wike asked whether their gods were sleeping or they were not seeing what was happening. Wike called on and advised the traditional rulers to talk with their gods in their shrines, if not, he will come and bulldoze their shrines.
According to the statements made by Wike, he said:
“You’re crying that Ozochi does not have a road and the government has come to build the road to link the community instead of you coming out and owning the project, you allow us again to begin to kidnap the workers to sabotage our own development.” “What kind of system is this?”
“You are sabotaging your own growth, and those of you who call yourself traditional rulers, you talk to the gods of the land now, what are the gods doing?” You know the gods when you want to kill a chicken; why not tell the gods? Why not call them? Are your gods sleeping? Are they not seeing this thing that is happening? Every day, you pour libations. Tell the gods to wake up; if they don’t, I’ll go and bulldoze where you put all those things.”
