Professor Emmanuel Osadeke, the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has opened up about the possibility of an imminent strike in Nigerian Universities according to a video.

Professor Emmanuel Osadeke disclosed that the University system is trying to transition into normal academic activities after the prolonged strike was suspended following an appeal Court rule. The Nigerian government should allocate more funds to the Educational sector in the country. Our colleagues have paid dearly because of this industrial action. So it is not just the students that have suffered the hardship that the strike brought with it. We sincerely hope the government does the right thing and fulfils the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to avoid another strike.

Across other African countries and the world, Nigeria’s allocation to the Educational sector is one of the poorest and it needs to be corrected. If the Education system is not improved, Nigerian Universities will be like a secondary and primary schools in the future, Professor Osadeke disclosed in a Channels Television interview.
