Senator Olaka Nwogu, a leader in the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed his opinions on the PDP’s internal issue, which is roiling the biggest opposition group in the nation.
Speaking on a political program on Channels Television, Senator Olaka Nwogu said that the National Working Committee and the party’s national chairman are the problems, not the party itself (NWC).
In response to allegations that housing allowance payments of N26–N35 million were made suspiciously into the personal accounts of National Working Committee (NWC) members, Nwogu said that there was enough justification for the national chairman to resign.
“They are claiming that the NWC never met to decide that persons should be paid that amount,” Olaka stated. They didn’t apply for the loan, assuming it was one, and if it was for housing, they already have homes in Abuja. Ayu ought to quit and provide an apology to the party and Nigerians.
He added that the party lost the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and that of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso because of Iyorchia Ayu.
