The immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has embarked on special assignment to monitor elections in the eastern African country of Kenya. The former Nigerian leader was pictured with group of foreign election observes examining conducts and proceedings of elections. He took time to supervise political atmosphere and behavior of some local polling units. Kenyan police were on ground to provide security and ensure seamless conduct of elections.
This is not the first time that ex President Jonathan was tasked with sensitive assignment in foreign countries. He was recently charged with the mediation of peace and restoration of democracy in Mali after military coup that overthrew the last government. Jonathan has also supervised the last elections held in Senegal.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) nominated Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to observe electoral proceedings on its behalf. He has earned significant respect and reputation in the international community.
