President Bola Tinubu has declared that he will seek re-election in 2027, saying rising insecurity in parts of the country will not force him out of office.

Bellnews reports that Tinubu stated this while receiving Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and other stakeholders from the state.

The President said those attempting to use the security situation against his administration were playing into the hands of his political opponents and hostile forces.

Tinubu said, “You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me.”

He added that he remained resolute despite criticisms of his administration over attacks, kidnappings and killings in parts of the country.

“I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term,” the President said.

Tinubu’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over attacks by armed groups, kidnappings and killings in several parts of the country.

Opposition figures and civil society groups have continued to call for stronger action from the Federal Government to address insecurity.

The President has repeatedly defended his administration’s efforts, saying security agencies are being supported to tackle threats and restore stability across the country.

Tinubu assumed office in May 2023 and is expected to complete his first term in 2027, when Nigerians will return to the polls for another presidential election.
